Aimée Allope had developed acute peritonitis complicated by intestinal occlusion and was judged inoperable by the attending physicians. She was carried to Lourdes on the August 1908 pilgrimage in extremis.
Bathed in the piscines she emerged with the abdominal rigidity resolved, intestinal function restored, and the constitutional signs of sepsis gone. The cure was followed by the Lourdes Medical Bureau and recognised on the official Lourdes list.
