Cécile Douville de Franssu, 22, of a noble Northern French family, suffered from tubercular peritonitis with massive ascites, fistulae, and severe cachexia. She had been pronounced terminal by the Lille physicians.
She made the September 1905 pilgrimage on a stretcher. Bathed in the piscines on September 21 she was instantly restored — the ascites resolved within days, the fistulae closed, and she regained her strength steadily through the autumn. The cure was recognised by the Bishop of Cambrai as the 33rd miraculous Lourdes cure.
