Clémentine Trouvé of Rouillé in the Vienne was fourteen years old in 1891 and had suffered since the age of nine from osteoperiostitis of the right foot, with two suppurating fistulae through which the calcaneus bone was visible. The Poitiers physicians had repeatedly considered amputation.
She came to Lourdes with the diocesan pilgrimage of August 1891 — the same pilgrimage that brought Amélie Chagnon. On August 21 she was bathed in the piscines. The fistulae closed and re-epithelialised within hours; the bone disease was gone. The cure was examined at length by the Lourdes Medical Bureau and was recognised by the Bishop of Poitiers as the 16th miraculous Lourdes cure.
