Elisa Lesage — tubercular hip disease
August 21, 1892 · Grotto of Massabielle, Lourdes, France
Status: approved holy see

Elisa Lesage, 18, of Bucquoy in the Pas-de-Calais, had suffered since childhood from tubercular coxalgia (caries of the right hip joint) that had left her unable to walk without crutches and had reduced the leg to wasted atrophy. She had been treated unsuccessfully at clinics in Arras and Paris.

She came to Lourdes on the National French pilgrimage of August 1892. Bathed in the piscines on August 21, the same day Marie Lemarchand was cured nearby, she emerged with the hip mobile and pain-free. The cure was permanent and was recognised by the Bishop of Arras as the 18th cure on the official Lourdes list.
