Evasio Ganora of Casale Monferrato in Piedmont was a young man dying of advanced Hodgkin's disease — gross axillary and mediastinal lymphadenopathy, continuous fever, pleural effusion, and severe cachexia. His Italian physicians had judged him in the last weeks of life.
He came to Lourdes on the Italian UNITALSI pilgrimage of June 1950. Bathed in the piscines on June 2 he was instantly cured: the fevers ceased, the enlarged nodes resolved within days, and he regained normal weight over the summer. The cure was followed by the Lourdes Medical Bureau and was recognised by the Bishop of Casale as the 52nd miraculous Lourdes cure.
