Marie-Thérèse Noblet — spinal Pott's disease
August 25, 1905 · Grotto of Massabielle, Lourdes, France
Status: approved holy see

Marie-Thérèse Noblet of Signy-l'Abbaye in the Ardennes was 16 and had suffered for years from Pott's disease (tubercular spondylitis) with marked kyphosis, paraspinal abscesses, and consequent immobility. She had been told she would never walk straight again.

She came to Lourdes on the August 1905 pilgrimage. Bathed in the piscines on August 25 she was instantly cured: the kyphosis reduced, the abscesses resolved, and she walked upright from the baths. She went on to enter religious life, and in 1921 the great missionary archbishop Alain de Boismenu of Yule Island brought her to Papua New Guinea, where she founded an indigenous Papuan religious congregation and was venerated as a saintly figure until her death in 1930. The cure was recognised as the 32nd miraculous Lourdes cure.
