Rose Martin — uterine cancer cured at the baths
July 3, 1947 · Grotto of Massabielle, Lourdes, France
Status: approved holy see

Rose Martin of Nice was 45 years old when, in 1946, surgeons opened her abdomen and found a uterine carcinoma so extensive and so adherent to the pelvic wall that they could not remove it. They closed her again without operating. She lived in constant pain, with daily hemorrhage and progressive weight loss, surviving on injections. She was brought to Lourdes on a stretcher in July 1947.

On July 3, 1947, she was lowered into the piscines. As she emerged from the bath the pain — present continuously for over a year — vanished completely. The hemorrhaging stopped that day. Over the following weeks she regained the lost weight, returned to normal activity, and lived another two decades. The cure was studied by the Lourdes Medical Bureau over a decade and was recognised by the Bishop of Nice on May 31, 1949 — the 47th miraculous cure on the official list.
