Sister Eugénie — uterine prolapse and gastric crises
August 21, 1883 · Grotto of Massabielle, Lourdes, France
Status: approved holy see

Sister Eugénie, a French religious of the Sisters of the Cross of Treille (Lille), had suffered since 1872 from severe uterine prolapse and recurrent intractable vomiting that had progressively reduced her to a state of cachexia. She had been examined by physicians at Lille and elsewhere and judged untreatable.

She made the Northern France pilgrimage to Lourdes in August 1883. On August 21 she bathed in the piscines and was instantly restored — the prolapse reduced, the vomiting stopped, normal nutrition resumed. The cure was followed for many years before being formally recognised by the Archbishop of Cambrai as the 13th cure on the official Lourdes list.
