After feeding the 5,000, Jesus dismissed the crowds and went up the mountain to pray alone. The disciples set out across the Sea of Galilee. Around the fourth watch of the night — between three and six in the morning — a strong contrary wind battered the boat. Then they saw Him walking on the sea.
Terrified, they cried out: 'It is a ghost!' Jesus answered: 'Take heart, it is I; have no fear.' Peter said: 'Lord, if it is you, bid me come to you on the water.' He came, walked toward Christ, and only when he turned his eyes from Him to the wind began to sink. Christ reached out His hand, caught him, and said: 'O man of little faith, why did you doubt?' (Matt 14:31).
