Most Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our most loving Mother, we consecrate ourselves and our families to your Immaculate Heart. We consecrate to you our whole life, all that we have, all that we love, all that we are. To you we give our bodies, our hearts, and our souls; to you we give our homes, our families, our country. We desire that everything in us and around us should belong to you, share in the benefits of your motherly blessing. O Most Pure Virgin, who from love alone renewed the consecration of the Word in your Immaculate Heart, bring us under your protection, guard us as your special property and possession. Grant us the grace ever to remain faithful disciples of the Most Holy Heart of your Son, and obtain for us the interior consolation, the increase of grace, the spirit of prayer, and the special help we need in the difficulties of this present life. Queen of Peace, pray for us, and cause to dawn upon the world the peace of justice and charity. Amen.
Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
The act of consecration by which Pius XII consecrated the entire human race — and Russia in particular — to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on October 31, 1942, fulfilling the request given by the Virgin at Fátima in 1917.
On the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (the Saturday after the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart); on the anniversary of Fátima (May 13); on the First Saturday of each month; in personal and family consecration.
At the third Fátima apparition on July 13, 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary told the three seers — Lúcia, Francisco, and Jacinta — that she would come to ask for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart and for the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays. 'If my requests are heard, Russia will be converted and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, fomenting wars and persecutions against the Church.'
Pope Pius XII consecrated the human race to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by radio on October 31, 1942 — the 25th anniversary of the final Fátima apparition — and renewed the act on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart in 1942 and 1952. Pope John Paul II, who attributed his survival of the 1981 assassination attempt to Mary's intercession, renewed the consecration on May 13, 1982 (the first anniversary of the attempt) and again on March 25, 1984, when Sr. Lúcia of Fátima confirmed that the requirements of the apparition had been fulfilled. Pope Francis renewed the consecration on March 25, 2022, with explicit mention of Russia and Ukraine.
A plenary indulgence is granted on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart for the public recitation of this act, under the usual conditions; partial otherwise.
