O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy. Amen.
The Fatima Prayer
Taught by the Blessed Virgin to the three children of Fatima on July 13, 1917 — a petition for the conversion of sinners. Now prayed after every Rosary decade.
After every decade of the Rosary.
At the third Fatima apparition on July 13, 1917, Our Lady taught the seers Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta a short prayer to be said after each decade of the Rosary: 'O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those in most need of Thy mercy.'
The prayer was not part of the universal Rosary before 1917, but spread quickly through Marian devotional movements in the 1930s and 1940s and is now said after every decade by most Catholics worldwide. It does not appear in the 'official' instructions for the Rosary issued by the Holy See, but is universally observed.
