Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, have mercy on us. Lord, have mercy on us. Christ, hear us. Christ, graciously hear us. God the Father of Heaven, have mercy on us. God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us. God the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us. Holy Trinity, one God, have mercy on us. Heart of Mary, pray for us. Heart of Mary, like unto the Heart of God, Heart of Mary, united to the Heart of Jesus, Heart of Mary, instrument of the Holy Spirit, Heart of Mary, sanctuary of the Divine Trinity, Heart of Mary, tabernacle of God Incarnate, Heart of Mary, immaculate from your creation, Heart of Mary, full of grace, Heart of Mary, blessed among hearts, Heart of Mary, most glorious throne, Heart of Mary, abyss and prodigy of humility, Heart of Mary, holocaust of Divine Love, Heart of Mary, fastened to the Cross with Jesus crucified, Heart of Mary, comfort of the afflicted, Heart of Mary, refuge of sinners, Heart of Mary, hope of the dying, Heart of Mary, seat of mercy, — pray for us. Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, spare us, O Lord. Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, graciously hear us, O Lord. Lamb of God, who takest away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. Immaculate Mary, meek and humble of heart, make our hearts like unto the Heart of Jesus. Let us pray: O most merciful God, who for the salvation of sinners and for the refuge of the wretched wert pleased that the Most Pure Heart of Mary should be most like in charity and pity to the Divine Heart of Thy Son, Jesus Christ: grant that we, who commemorate this sweet and loving Heart, may, by the merits and intercession of the same Blessed Virgin, merit to be found like to the Heart of Jesus; through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
Litany of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
The litany of invocations to the Heart of the Mother of God — gathered from the Fathers of the Church, the medieval Marian doctors, and the Fátima revelations of the twentieth century.
On the First Saturday of each month (Five First Saturdays devotion of Fátima); on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary; in personal devotion.
Litanies addressed to the Heart of Mary appear in private devotional manuals from the 17th century onward, as the devotion to the Immaculate Heart took shape alongside the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus revealed at Paray-le-Monial. The form most widely prayed today was assembled in the 18th century and gained particular currency in the 20th century with the Fátima apparitions and the papal consecrations.
The Heart of Mary is honored as immaculate from her conception, full of grace, pierced by the sword of sorrow at the foot of the Cross (Lk 2:35; Jn 19:25), the seat of her perfect love for God and for souls, and the refuge of her children. The litany leads the soul through these mysteries to the closing invocation: 'Heart of Mary, our refuge, pray for us.'
