Alberto Marvelli was born on March 21, 1918 at Ferrara. In 1934, at the age of 16, Alberto undertook the systematic Catholic Action (Azione Cattolica) lay-Catholic engagement.
During the Nazi occupation of Rimini (1943–1944), Alberto undertook the ministry to the Jewish refugees, the Nazi persecuted, and the Rimini civilian bombing victims — personally rescuing the persecuted from Nazi deportation trains.
Following the 1944 Allied liberation of Rimini, Alberto served as post-war Catholic-Christian-Democrat city councillor at Rimini (1946) — undertaking the systematic post-war reconstruction of Rimini and the Rimini Catholic revival.
On October 5, 1946, at the age of 28, Alberto was struck by a truck on his bicycle en route to catechism class — producing the immediate death.
Beatified September 5, 2004 by Pope St. John Paul II — the papal recognition of the young Catholic Action lay-hero.
