Angelina was born in 1377 at Montegiove Castle in Umbria to the noble Umbrian Marsciano-Corbara family. At the age of 15 (1392), she was married to Count John of Termini in Abruzzo — a dynastic marriage.
The marriage remained virginal by mutual agreement — Angelina undertook the virgin-marriage tradition in institutional continuity with the earlier Sts. Elzear and Delphine (see their entries). On Count John's death in 1395 (after just three years of virgin-marriage), the widowed Angelina undertook the Franciscan Third Order vocation.
Around 1397, Angelina founded the Convent of Sant'Anna at Foligno in Umbria — the first Franciscan Third Order Regular convent for women, establishing the 'Regular' (monastic-cloistered) form of the Franciscan Third Order (as distinct from the lay-Tertiary form).
The Angelina foundation institutionally established the Franciscan Third Order Regular for women — the canonical-institutional form of the Franciscan women's-religious life that combined the Franciscan Third Order (Tertiary) rule with the monastic-cloistered discipline. The Franciscan Third Order Regular extended through the late-medieval and modern Catholic tradition to the present day.
Angelina founded multiple additional Franciscan Third Order Regular convents across central Italy — producing the network of sixteen daughter houses under her governance.
She died at Foligno on July 14, 1435 at the age of 58.
