Clare Theresa Crockett was born on November 14, 1982 at Derry in Northern Ireland to a working-class Crockett family during the Troubles. As a teenager, Clare undertook the vocation of acting — becoming a British youth-TV actress with the Nickelodeon UK series 'Wow' and auditioning for the Hollywood film 'The Sound of Music' remake.
In 2000, at the age of 17, Clare underwent the mystical conversion at a Holy Week retreat in Spain with the Servants of the Home of the Mother (SHM) — the new religious congregation founded 1990 by Fr. Rafael Alonso Reymundo in Spain.
In 2001, Clare entered the Servants of the Home of the Mother. Clare famously wrote at the time of her vocation-decision: 'God had won the game. Yes! Not me. He beat me at the game of life.'
For 15 years (2001–2016), Clare served the Servants of the Home of the Mother — becoming Sister Clare of the Trinity and the Heart of Mary.
Sr. Clare undertook missions in Belfast, Panama, Florida, Spain, and finally in Ecuador — where she arrived in 2015 at the Playa Prieta community teaching the young Ecuadorian aspirants and the local children.
On the afternoon of April 16, 2016, at 6:58 PM, the 7.8-magnitude Ecuador earthquake struck the Playa Prieta community. The Colegio Sagrada Familia collapsed on Sr. Clare and five young Ecuadorian aspirants (Valeria Guadalupe Miranda Delgado, Jazmina Del Rosario Zambrano Barcia, María Augusta Caicedo Cedeño, María de los Ángeles Chila Loor, Catalina del Rosario Reyes Delgado).
Sr. Clare's final documented words as the earthquake began: 'Todo será por Jesús' ('Everything will be for Jesus').
The cause of beatification was opened on January 21, 2024 by Bishop Donal McKeown of Derry — the Northern Irish Catholic recognition of the modern-media-generation vocation tradition.
