Life

Elizabeth (French Élisabeth) Catez was born on July 18, 1880 in France. In 1901, at the age of 21, Elizabeth entered the Discalced Carmelite Monastery of Dijon.

For 5 years (1901–1906), Elizabeth undertook the systematic Trinitarian-mystical spirituality — composing her famous Prayer to the Trinity ('O My God, Trinity Whom I Adore', November 21, 1904) and her retreat commentary 'Heaven in Faith' (Le Ciel dans la foi, 1906).

Elizabeth institutionally developed the 'praise of glory' (louange de gloire) spirituality — the Christian vocation to become a 'praise of glory' to the Trinity, drawn from Ephesians 1:12.

She died at Dijon of Addison's disease on November 9, 1906 at the age of 26.

Canonized October 16, 2016 by Pope Francis.
