Life

Francis Anthony (Italian Francesco Antonio) Fasani was born on August 6, 1681 at Lucera in Puglia. At the age of 15, Francis Antonio entered the Conventual Franciscan Order. Ordained priest in 1705, he spent the 37 years (1705–1742) at the Convent of San Francesco in his native Lucera.

Francis Anthony served as Provincial of the Conventual Franciscan Province of Sant'Angelo (1721–1723) and as Master of Novices — famous for his personal asceticism, Marian devotion, and pastoral care for the Lucerian poor.

He died at Lucera on November 29, 1742 at the age of 61. Canonized April 13, 1986 by Pope St. John Paul II.
