Eucharistic — The Eucharistic Miracle of Bergen

The Eucharistic Miracle of Bergen
1421 · Bergen (Mons), North Holland, Netherlands
Status: approved holy see

In November 1421, the great Saint Elizabeth's flood overwhelmed the North Holland coast and the village of Bergen. The parish church was destroyed and its contents swept out to sea. Days later, the tabernacle was found by villagers far down the coast — undamaged and entirely dry, the consecrated hosts within intact. The recovery was taken as a miracle of preservation; the local cult was approved by the bishop of Haarlem.
