In 1158, a sacrilegious theft from the Cathedral of Brescia left the city's Blessed Sacrament missing. The host was found three days later in the woods outside Brescia, visibly pulsing with blood. A great procession returned it to the cathedral. The bishop opened the canonical inquiry; the cult was confirmed and the relic preserved.
