In July 1994, the second of three Eucharistic phenomena at the parish of Santa María y Caballito Almagro: during Mass, drops of blood were seen to appear on the corporal of the altar. The relic was preserved and examined. Then-Archbishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio (the future Pope Francis) ordered both this and the 1992 incident preserved alongside the more famous 1996 case, the three together forming the documented set of Buenos Aires Eucharistic phenomena.
