After a sacrilegious theft from the cathedral of Frauenburg (modern Frombork) in 1290, a consecrated host abandoned in a field near the small Warmian village of Glotowo was found by a peasant the next winter, untouched by frost or animals, surrounded by an unwithered circle of green grass in deep snow. The host was returned in procession; the sanctuary built at Glotowo around the site remains a pilgrimage centre of Polish Warmia. Pope Pius VII confirmed the cult in 1804.
