In 1799 in the Lower Austrian Danube city of Krems, a consecrated host accidentally dropped during Communion at the parish church left a dark stain on the marble floor where it had touched — in the precise shape of a round host. The stain proved indelible despite cleaning. The bishop of Sankt Pölten investigated and confirmed the local cult. The stained section of floor remains visible in the church.
