Eucharistic — The Eucharistic Miracle of Old Cairo

The Eucharistic Miracle of Old Cairo
early Christian period · Coptic Cathedral, Old Cairo, Egypt
Status: approved holy see

In the early Christian period in Egypt, a catechumen at Old Cairo (Babylon Fortress) was preparing to enter the Church but harboured doubts about the Real Presence in the Eucharist. As he received his first Communion from the bishop, he saw the host transform on his tongue into a small portion of bleeding flesh. He fell to his knees in faith. The event is preserved in early Coptic patristic tradition and listed in St. Carlo Acutis's catalogue among the foundational Eucharistic miracles of Christian Egypt.
