In 13th-century Toulouse, the centre of the Albigensian (Cathar) heresy denying the bodily presence of Christ in the Eucharist, a consecrated host bled visibly during a public Dominican preaching mission. The event is associated with the early Dominican mission against the Cathars (St. Dominic himself was active in Toulouse from 1215) and is recorded in early Dominican chronicles. The relic was preserved at the cathedral; many Cathars converted after witnessing the event.
